NIH No Cost Extension (NCE) update - NIH JIT reminders
Earlier this year NIH changed their policy that required the first No Cost Extension (NCE) to be requested through the Prior Approval Module in the eRA Commons. This process required submission of documents that were reviewed internally. On August 7, 2025, NIH released a notice reverting back to using the No Cost Extension link in the eRA Commons. Per the notice, requests that were previously submitted via the prior approval module will not be reviewed, and recipients will need to initiate the first no cost extension within the Status module by using the Extension action. Here is the link to the notice: NOT-OD-25-142.
Just in Time activity from NIH picks up this time of year before the end of the federal government's fiscal year. Companies that receive JIT requests usually only have a few days to a week to respond. Are you prepared?Read herefor more details.
